Xiaomi has unveiled its new Redmi Note 17 5G in India, which is the first smartphone in the Note 17 series for the country. The Note 17 5G will be available on August 12 via Amazon.in and the Xiaomi e-store. It offers an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, a 50MP dual-rear camera setup and a large 8000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. The handset features an in-display fingerprint sensor and an IP65 rating certification.
Redmi Note 17 5G Price in India and Availability
The Redmi Note 17 5G is priced in India starting at Rs. 27,999 for the 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage model. The top-end 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage model carries a price tag of Rs. 30,999. Customers using SBI, Axis Bank, or Kotak Bank credit cards are eligible for an instant discount of Rs. 3,000.
The smartphone will go on sale in India on August 12 via Amazon and Xiaomi’s official e-store. It comes in three color variants, i.e. Arctic Blue, Dark Night, and Starlight Purple.
The phone has a dual-SIM slot that offers 5G and 4G networks. It runs on Android 16-based Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3.0. The company promises to provide four years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the phone. Moving to the display, it offers a 6.99-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1800nits of peak brightness, 240Hz touch sampling rate and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. There’s also HydroTouch 2.0 for better touch response.

In terms of processor, the Redmi Note 17 5G is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. The device gets up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. However, the storage capacity is further expandable via a microSD card (up to 2TB). For thermal management, it comes with a vapour chamber cooling solution featuring a 10,416 sq mm graphite heat dissipation area.
Speaking of cameras, the handset features a dual-camera setup on the rear, housing a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and an unspecified secondary sensor. The Redmi Note 17 5G arrives with an 8MP front sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.
It is backed by an 8000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging support. The Redmi Note 17 5G has an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance. Moreover, it offers an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. Talking about dimensions, the handset measures 169.7 x 79.14 x 8.45mm and weighs about 225 grams.
